Heading back into the studio this month to start work on a new album. (Preliminary release date based on typical Del Rey progress: November 2036.) We're excited to be laying down some new tracks though - this recording definitely promises to be something of a departure from our usual stuff.

Next show will be Saturday June 23 at Lincoln Hall with Bloodiest and Ken Camden. Maybe we'll preview a new song from the sessions?

Del Rey will be playing at Lincoln Hall on Thursday August 18 as part of a benefit show for the Garfield Park Conservatory, which was heavily damaged by a hailstorm earlier this summmer. The damage is absolutely unreal -- see garfield-conservatory.org for more details (and some truly heartbreaking photos). The lineup also features Bobby Conn, Big Science, Sunken Ships, Bare Mutants, and DJ Scary Lady Sarah. There will also be a ton of stuff being raffled off from local artists, musicians, etc. See you there.

Looks like we'll be doing our first ever European tour in May and June, doing a smattering of shows in Germany, Poland, and Spain around the Primavera date. See the Shows page for more details. At some of the shows in Spain, we'll be performing a live score to the animated 1973 sci-fi classic Fantastic Planet, a longtime favorite of ours. As a warm-up, we'll be playing the movie and score at Lincoln Hall on May 5 with psychedelic sound sculptors White/Light, who will also be doing a live score to an as-yet-unnanounced piece of cinema.

Del Rey has been invited to perform at Primavera Sound 2011 this May in Barcelona! Looks like we'll be playing on the 27th, but no details on the time slot just yet. The festival features an amazing roster of artists, and we're very very excited about being a part of it. We're currently trying to book some other European shows around that date -- stay tuned for more details.

Look for some more Chicago shows over the next few months, and hopefully some regional dates in the late winter/early spring. For example: we're playing on Thursday January 13th at Empty Bottle with Electric Hawk. This show is FREE with RSVP!

People, the wait is over. You can buy the new Del Rey album 'Immemorial' online and in finer record stores across the US and EU.

NORTH AMERICA: Purchase via At A Loss diystro digital store
EUROPE: Purchase via Golden Antenna bandcamp digital store

'Immemorial' in physical form (LP+CD) will be released in the US on September 28 on At a Loss Recordings and in Europe on October 1 on Golden Antenna. This one has been years in the making (yeah, aren't they all...) but it's definitely worth it.

We're playing a record release show here in Chicago on Friday October 8 at Lincoln Hall. Joining us will be Haymarket Riot and Implodes. Come on out!

Bad, bad, bad news. Our rehearsal space was burglarized over the weekend of Oct. 3-4, and we got fucked. All our guitars, keyboards, and effects pedals were stolen, which is a huge part of our arsenal, to say the least. You can view a full list of what we lost here. About 7-8 other spaces in the same building got cleaned out as well, and the thieves definitely knew what they were looking for -- certain items of lesser value were left behind, but you'd have to have some experience with music gear to know they weren't worth taking. Needless to say, this is a setback, but that's all it is. At the end of the day, these were just pieces of wood and metal and plastic with wires and knobs and keys on them. Expensive, yes. Cherished, absolutely. While we may never be able to replace the stuff we lost, we'll get our hands on something, and we'll be back.

It seems ridiculous to suggest it in these times of economic woe, but if anyone is interested in contributing to the Del Rey Recovery Fund, they can send $$ via PayPal to thedelrey@hotmail.com.

Just like the Olympics baby -- every 4 years or so we return to the studio to make another record. We just did a few days at Key Club in Benton Harbor, MI. Laid down the foundation for what will (eventually) become our 4th full-length, assuming things go according to plan. You can check out a video of us in the studio below:
